Lisa Hill holds a Bachelor of Science in Special Education with an emphasis in Mental Retardation, a Master of Education and Specialist in Education degrees in Special Education from Augusta State University (now Augusta University). Additionally, she attended Georgia State University and University of Georgia and obtained her Instructional Supervision and Educational Leadership certifications.
She received training as a trainer for Restorative Practices from International Institute for Restorative Practices. She has also completed the School Improvement Specialist course from The Institute for Performance Improvement and train-the-trainer for Check and Connect through the University of Minnesota. Lisa also completed the Special Education Mediation training through the Justice Center of Atlanta.
Lisa has worked in special education 35 years, with over 25 years in special education administration. As a consultant, she supports the implementation of special education programs for students with disabilities by working with superintendents, administrators, teachers, and paraprofessionals through the delivery of high-quality professional learning and coaching to improve the outcomes for students with disabilities. She is known for providing practical, hands-on material and strategies that can be used immediately by administrators, educators, and paraprofessionals. She works closely with special education directors to aid with data analysis, procedures, and program development for students with disabilities.
She was chosen by the U.S. Department of Education to support work related to the recruitment and retention of special education teachers. She is recognized as an expert in the field of special education. Superintendents, special education directors as well as special education attorneys seek her advice on special education programing and situations.
Prior to entering the field of education, Lisa attended Augusta Technical college where she obtained a diploma in secretarial skills. She did this during her senior year of high school. She worked in business for seven years. She was recently inducted into the 2022 class of the Den of Distinction for Augusta Technical College. This prestigious award is for graduates who have excelled in their chosen field and have given back to the community.
